Forgiven?

This morning I (Pastor Steve) watched the “live” media coverage of Tiger Woods as he confessed his failures to the world. I am certain at this point people have drawn their own conclusions….some are quick to forgive…others are still uncertain about his sincerity. Regardless of how you might feel, let me remind you that we are all vulnerable to “falling.”

I for one have chosen not to “cast the first stone.” The scripture speaks of a man described to “be a man after God’s own heart.” And King David fell! You see, if we get too busy getting involved in all the wrong things…if we get caught up in money, fortune, fame, selfishness (and the list goes on and on)…if we get our eyes fixed on others and fail to evaluate our own lives…we could fall!

So in the midst of your life, why not extend some grace to those who have fallen?

It may only be a matter of time until you need the same!

Ever Feel Like Choking Someone?

Let’s be honest…there are times in all our lives that the stress of life makes us want to do something (like choke someone) that we shouldn’t do! I know it’s not the “Politically Correct Christian” way of looking at life. So before you get to crazy about why a pastor (Steve) might confess these feelings, remember, that Jesus also faced many emotions…including anger! We often look at Jesus in a way that we can’t imagine Him feeling like we do sometimes. Well, guess what…He did! So, the next time you feel like choking someone (and then feel guilty over it), remember you aren’t alone! The only difference is that Jesus didn’t choke anyone…He may have felt like it, but He didn’t do it. So give yourself some space (and don’t choke anyone)!

Growing up too fast…or not fast enough?

Ever heard someone say (who hasn’t seen you in a while), “look at you, you’re all grown up?” Life is like that…some times we feel “all grown up,” then something happens in life that makes us feel so insecure, unprepared, or even immature (like a child). Life in Christ can sometimes be like this. You feel confident in your relationship with Christ, then something happens and suddenly our confidence is shaken and we revert back to being “a baby in Christ.” Remember, NO ONE ever arrives! We are all a work in progress. So don’t give up when life throws you a curve…just keep trusting, growing, and believing!

R.I.P.

He was a 1st round draft pic by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Clemson University. Traded to the Chicago Bears last year. Projected as a future All-Pro Defensive End. A top physical specimen. He was 26 years old. And Gaines Adams died this morning from an enlarged heart.

Don’t live for tomorrow…live for today!

Seems like we often times find ourselves in places we never expected to be? We allow ourselves to get “stuck” in spots that place a ton of pressure on ourselves. We find we have to “hit the mark” and have very little margin for error. Next time you need to make a big decision, think about the long term impact….and remember, the farther you take yourself away from the target, the smaller your opportunity will be!
