Stretched?

Ever let too many things into your life that, “stretch you?” In striking a balance, you must closely evaluate the things that compete for your time, your interests, and more importantly, your soul. Being “stretched” too far can create stress, unhappiness, and even depression in your life.  Be careful what you say yes to…it might be enough to hurt!

Don’t Be to Quick to Jump!

There were times in my young life that I was tempted to “jump” from one thing to another…or one place to another.  As we look around and see where our friends are going or what they are doing…it’s tempting to follow suit and “jump” from where we are in life. Jumping too quickly can have devastating results.  Be careful…take some time…pray about it…evaluate the potential benefits and hazards…and wait until you have peace….then (and only then)…JUMP!

Better than You?

We’ve all heard the stories of young children telling their friends, “My daddy is better than yours!” The story even takes on such issues as “strength, intelligence, and popularity.”  Now we live in a culture of technology where we wonder if we should purchase a PC or a MAC. I am constantly questioned by others when they see me at Starbucks, Panera Bread, or Barnes & Noble using my Mac…”how do you like it?”  ”Is it better than your PC?” We are bombarded in our world with comparing ourselves to others.  Not just our computers, but our lives.  Who is biggest, strongest, smartest, better looking, has more money…and the list goes on and on.  Why is this a problem?  Several reasons. First, it dilutes the understanding that God made YOU as a “one of a kind” and don’t need to be compared to anyone…for any reason!  Secondly, when we compare ourselves to others, we do one of two things; we puff up with pride because we feel superior, or we get depressed because we don’t measure up.  The next time you are tempted to look around and compare….DON’T!

Buy a PC or a MAC and stop worrying about what others have or think!

Speed!

Ever feel like life’s passing you buy?  All your friends are getting married, and you’re not even dating someone?  College students are planning for graduation and it will take you 10 years to finish?  Others are starting careers with well paying jobs and you still don’t know what you want to do?  We have all faced similar situations in our lives.  Some call this “Destination Disease.”  When life seems like it has no real good (immediate) answers for you, remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint.  God’s plan for YOU is still perfect…and yes, it’s individualized just for you.  While you’re looking around wondering why it seems like you’re being left out, remember, anything worth having is worth waiting for.

Life is long…enjoy the journey!

“In HIS Hands”

When I saw this picture I couldn’t help but to think about how God has us in His hands.  We go through all kinds of “stuff,” (struggles, pain, frustration, relationship issues, financial trouble, school, etc.) and forget that God has us right where He wants us…in His hands!  The next time you think you need to control something, remember, He has the whole world in His hands!

don’t get robbed!

There are many people in life that are being taken advantage of in so many ways these days. We have things that others want…and if given the opportunity, they will take it from us.  Although we want to be generous, we never want others to rob us of the things that are important to us.  Things like our joy, our peace, harmony, our relationships (our ice cream cones)…and the list goes on and on.  Don’t let others rob you…you’ll regret it!
